Position Overview
The High School Principal serves as the primary instructional leader and chief administrator of Lakeside High School. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment, and managing the daily operations of the campus. The Principal is expected to be a visible, energetic leader who balances high expectations with a supportive approach for students, staff, and the community.
Core Qualifications
Licensure: Must hold a valid Arkansas Building-Level Administrator License (Grades 9-12) as mandated by the Arkansas Department of Education.
Experience: Proven track record in curriculum development, instructional supervision, and data-driven decision-making.
Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead professional learning communities (PLCs).
Primary Responsibilities
I. Instructional Leadership & Academic Excellence
Curriculum & Instruction: Lead the development and implementation of a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum.
Evaluation: Conduct meaningful teacher evaluations and classroom observations using the Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS).
Data Integration: Utilize student achievement data to identify learning gaps and drive school improvement initiatives..
Master Scheduling: Design a master schedule that prioritizes instructional minutes and maximizes student opportunities for success.
II. Culture, Discipline & Safety
Student Wellbeing: Foster a "whole-child" environment that supports social-emotional growth alongside academic achievement.
Behavior Management: Maintain firm, fair, and consistent student discipline policies in alignment with the Student Handbook.
Safe Environment: Supervise the security of the facility and coordinate with custodial/maintenance teams to ensure a pristine learning environment.
III. Personnel & Professional Development
Staff Growth: Recruit, hire, and mentor high-quality certified and non-certified staff.
Mentorship: Collaborate with district leadership on new teacher induction and the growth of emerging leaders within the building.
Modeling: Set the standard for professionalism, work ethic, and lifelong learning for all staff members.
IV. Community & Operations
Engagement: Actively involve parents in the educational process and build strategic partnerships with local Lakeside community organizations.
Fiscal Management: Oversee the building budget with transparency and strategic alignment to school goals.
Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the Superintendent, ensuring all district initiatives are supported and effectively communicated.

Employment Terms
Contract: 240 Days
Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Evaluator: Superintendent of Schools
Supervision: Requires attendance at after-school events, athletic competitions, and evening community meetings.
