Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

August 11, 2014

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McJoy, Mr. Mosely and Mr. Williams.

The July 14, 2014 board minutes were approved as presented.

Mrs. Estelle gave the financial report.

Mr. Robert Walker addressed the board about purchasing the 6.11 acres of property on Mulberry and Lakeside Streets. A motion was made by Mrs. Green and seconded by Mr. Collins to get an appraisal on the property and advertise property by accepting sealed bids to get fair market value. The motion carried.

The board opened bids for bread, milk, juice, meat and main dish items. A motion was made by Mrs. Green and seconded by Mr. Collins to accept Keith’s bid for meats and main dish items, Hiland’s bid for milk and juice and flower’s bid for bread. The motion carried.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, demotion, discipline or resignation of personnel.

After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Ms. Griffin to approve the contract of Eddie Culley (middle school social studies and girls basketball coach), Donna Rankins (1^st grade teacher in Eudora), Patricia Robinson (Lakeside Elementary PreK teacher), Beverly Branch (Lakeside Elementary paraprofessional) and Sandra Williams (Lakeside Elementary paraprofessional). The motion carried.

A Motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Ms. Griffin to review and approve resolution for employee increases of 5% or more. The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
