Regular Meeting

July 8, 2019

Staff Development Room

5:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by the vice-president. The following members were present: Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. McJoy and Mr. Williams. Mr. Livingston and Mr. Mosley were absent.

The June 10, 2019 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent gave an update on the new district warehouse, Code of Ethics for AR Educators, beginning of school (August 13, 2019), school bus drivers workshop (July 9, 2019), substitute teacher workshop (July 9, 2019), available housing for the Philippine teachers and the Southeast Arkansas Cooperative is handling the funding for the preschool programs in Southeast Arkansas.

The superintendent recommended that Mr. Alfred Pollard receive a $1900.00 stipend for bus mechanic and operate the forklift for the warehouse; Mrs. Sharon Walker and Mrs. Cynthia Harris a one-time stipend of $700 for Medicaid billing, Earlean Wilson $900.00 stipend (floor preparation) and Tommie L. Harris $1,000 for additional maintenance work. A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mr. Griffin to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to give Alfred Pollard ($1900) stipend, Earlean Wilson ($900.00), Tommie L. Harris ($1,000) Mrs. Sharon Walker and Mrs. Cynthia Harris a one-time stipend of $700.00. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Ms. Griffin to accept Hiland’s bid for milk. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Ms. Griffin to accept Copystar’s bid for the district copy machines ($1148.34) per month for 36 months. The motion carried.

The vice president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline, or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Mr. McJoy and seconded by Mr. Collins to approve the contact of Danna Clemmons (High School Special Education), Derrick Cook (Middle School/High School Science), Edwin Sheridan (Middle School Health and PE/Coaching), Ashton Steward (4th Grade Teacher) and accept the resignation of Cathy Love (4th Grade Elementary Teacher) and Sam Brock (High School Social Studies). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
