The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Mr. Lane, Mr. Livingston, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Sykes, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams.

The minutes and financial reports for December 11, 2023 were approved as presented.

Mr. William Campbell, President of the Arkansas School Board Association presented a Resolution to Rev. David Green in memory of Mrs. Loddie Green. Mrs. Green worked 25 years as an outstanding educator by teaching and positively influencing the lives of the children with whom she came in contact. She provided leadership skills and an exemplary commitment to public education as a Lakeside Board Member for 13 years. The Arkansas School Board Association recognize and salutes Loddie Green for her many years of outstanding leadership and commitment to public education. Her self-sacrificing servant leadership will be an example and a beacon to guide educators and board members across the State of Arkansas for many years to come.

The superintendent requested that the board approve the following proposed policies as proposals until the personnel policy committees meet and approve as policies which will go into effect this school year. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Thompson to approve proposals 3.28 (Licensed Personnel Technology use policy), 3.28 F(Licensed Personnel Employee Internet Use Agreement), 4.11((Equal Education Opportunity), 8.22(Classified Personnel Technology Use Policy)8.22F(Classified Personnel Internet Use Agreement) and 8.48 (Classified Personnel Duty to Maintain License in Good Standing). The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to accept Ms. Gloria Benner’s bid to purchase a three-compartment steam table for $300.00. The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed ACT 642 of Arkansas Department of Health Rules and Regulations, effective January 1, 2024 (Coach safety ACT Arkansas Department of Health); Full open disclosures for school board members and employees; school bus accident; school board hours; COSSA Conference; safe room and field house/warehouse bids and statement of finance interest.

The superintendent presented a resolution on behalf of the Governor of the State of Arkansas recognizing and saluting the members of local board of education by proclaiming and the month of January 2024 as Arkansas School Board Member Recognition month. Also, each board member received a Certificate of Recognition by the superintendent (“In Appreciation of Your Valuable Service to the Children of Arkansas”)

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, promotion, discipline, or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Smith to accept the resignation of Alexander Black. The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
