Regular Meeting

May 9, 2022

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Mosley, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Rev. McJoy was absent.

The April 11, 2022 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to approve the Special Education application and budget for the 2022-2023 school year. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Rev. Green and seconded by Mr. Williams to place the 2022-2023 Teacher Salary Equalization Funding ($160,376.50) into the teacher salary schedule for the 2022-2023 school year based on Acts 679 and 680 of 2021. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve K-12 Culinary Connections Food Service Management Company Contract for the 2022-23 school year. The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed storm damage to the football field lights, Basic Behavioral Threat Assessment in Classroom, MOU for SRO, DESE approval for additional space to build a new dining room, 2022 graduation procedures and school election on May 24, 2022.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Livington and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve the contract of Juana Scott as an Instructional Facilitator (Ten month contract), extend Arkadia Armour’s contract from a nine month to a ten month to help support the high school Library Media Center, extend Coach Darrius Green’s Athletic Director from an 11 month to 12 month contract, extend Mrs. Andrea Turner’s contract from an 11 month to 12 months; approve the contracts for Eva Sykes (3-5 Special Education Teacher), Donnette Carter (6 th -8 th Special Education Teacher), Trinia Davenport (K-3 Counselor with ten month contract) and accept the resignation of Chris Williams (Football Coach and 7-8 Business) and the retirement of Pam Watkins (3-5 Special Education Teacher), Gail Pennington (6-8 Special Education Teacher) and Tommie Harris (Janitorial and Maintenance). Also, add a $2400 Stipend to Coach Alexander Black’s contract to coordinate the weightlifting program and advertise for an as-needed interim high school principal. The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
