Regular Meeting
February 13, 2023
Staff Development Room
5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president.  The following members were present:  Rev. Green, Mr. Lane, Mr. Livingston, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Sykes, Mrs. Thompson, and Mr. Williams.

The January 9, 2023 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to adopt the attached proposed Budget of Expenditures with tax levy for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024 to and including June 30, 2025 and to approve all related election documents (See attached).  The motion carried.

The superintendent presented the 2023-2024 proposed school Calendar (#1) which was approved by certified teachers.  A motion was made by Mr. Lane and seconded by Mrs. Smith to approve proposed school calendar (#1).  The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed proposals from Roberts-McNutt, Inc. to replace 13,000 sq. ft. of roofing at the Lakeside Middle School for $99,866, Lakeside High School Auditorium (4,500 sq., ft.) for $41,707.00), Lakeside High School band room (3,050 sq. ft.) for $28,344.00, water test walls on the gym and auditorium for $2,676.00; Eudora 2000 addition (11,367 sq. ft.) for $77,646.00 and Eudora cafeteria (8250 sq. ft.) for $97,390.00.  A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to accept Roberts-McNutt, Inc. (Tip Tap #200201) bid to replace the above roofs using ESSERIII funds.  The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. William to replace 200 Windows

7 computers, which is twelve years old with a Dell 12th Generation Intel 2023 model using Title 1 funding for $120,445.00 from CDWG (Tip Tap #2000105).  The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Sykes to allow the Lakeside High School Band to participate the Huntington High School Marching Band Annual Band/Drumline competition in Shreveport, LA on February 18, 2023 and April 29, 2023.The motion carried.

A motion was made by Rev. Green and seconded by Mr. Livingston to allow the VEXIQ Robotics team to participate in the State Tournament at ATU in Russellville, AR on (March 9th), Nationals in Council Bluffs, Iowa (March 26th -April 1st ) and the Worlds Competition in Dallas, TX (April 30 to May 4, 2023).  The motion carried.

The superintendent requested that the board increase teachers’ hourly pay rate for after school and summer school from $25.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour.  The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ LEARN’S Bill, DESE School Safety Grant application and funds, National School Board Conference and Personnel Records and FOIA.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel.  After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.  

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to hire Coach Sirl Wright as a teacher and head football coach (12 months), renew the contracts for Dr. Vera Wright (Middle School Principal), Ross Sims (Eudora Elementary Principal/Technology Coordinator), Audrey Brown (Federal Coordinator), Lori Cingolani (School Improvement Specialist), Jennifer Armstrong (Stem Director), LaNeice Edwards (Special Education Supervisor), Change Ray Brooks (Band Director) contract to as needed for the remainder of the 2022-2023 School Year, accept the retirement of Ms. Cristy Stone (Elementary Principal) and extend the superintendent’s contract one additional year to an existing contract from (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026).  The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
