Regular Meeting
October 11, 2022

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Mr. Lane, Mr. Livingston, Ms. Sykes, and Mrs. Thompson, Mr. Williams and Mrs. Smith (attended remotely).
The September 12, 2022 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.
The superintendent, principals, curriculum specialist, LEA supervisor, technology coordinator and STEM Director gave an annual report to the public. The following topics were discussed: Title I Schoolwide programs, Title II, Title IV, Title V, Indistar, District support plan, The Science of Reading, 1003 Grant, SOAR Grant, Cares Act Funds (ESSER I and ESSER II), school performance data reports and status, ACT, ACT Aspire Assessment Data Reports, school interventions, parent engagement activities, Integrating Technology Into the Classrooms, GT programs, ELL students, Homeless, ESSA, AQT, ACT 1240, School Choice, school safety, STEM, Title IX Compliance, Standards Assurance, Students with disabilities, 504, wellness committee requirements checklist (Implementations and Compliance), Child Nutrition Program, graduation rate, how federal and special needs funds were used; the District’s vision, mission and annual goals were discussed.
The superintendent discussed the Family Mental Health Night (LS-23-00), Gear-up Proposed budget to set up a Smart Classroom at Lakeside High School, Star Academy (Lakeside Middle School), 2022 ASBA Regional Meetings (October 18, 2022) and 2022 ASBA Annual Conference(December 7-9, at Marriott State House Convention Center).
The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. Ms. Smith did not go into executive session. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.
A motion was made by Ms. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Sykes to approve the certified contracts for Tammy Shaw (High School Business Technology/Career Readiness), Brandon Bolden (High School ALE/Health and Physical Education) and approve the substitute teachers pay schedule. The motion carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
