Regular Meeting

January 11, 2021

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.


The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Rev. McJoy, Mrs. Thompson, and Mr. Williams. Mr. Mosley was absent.

The December 14, 2020 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to adopt the attached Proposed Budget of Expenditures with tax levy for Fiscal Year Beginning July 1, 2022 to and including June 30, 2023 and to approve all related election documents. Also, if there is no opposition for the school board members in zones 1 and 7, the board agreed to have early voting and absentee voting only. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Rev. McJoy and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve policies 3.32.1 and 8.23.1 Licensed Personnel and Classified Personnel COVID Emergency Leave. The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed school board member Statement of Financial Interest (due January 31, 2020 and must be filed in the County Clerk’s Office), COVID Vaccine rollout (Fact Sheet for Recipients, Provider COVID-19 Immunization Consent Form, and V-Safe APP). ESSER II Funds, Title IX Training, 2021 Virtual ASBA School Law Seminar and School Board Training Roster.

The superintendent presented a resolution on behalf of the Governor of the State of Arkansas and Ms. Tarsha Perry, LEA President, presented a Proclamation on behalf of the Lakeside Educator Association recognizing and saluting the members of local board of education by proclaiming the month of January 2021 as Arkansas School Board Member Recognition month. Also, each board member received a certificate of Recognition by the superintendent (“In Appreciation of Your Valuable Service to the Children of Arkansas”).

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. McJoy to approve the contract of Cathy Nash as a Pre-K Teacher at Eudora Elementary. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. McJoy to extend the superintendent’s contract one additional year to an existing contract from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024. The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
