Regular Meeting
August 8, 2016

5:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Mosley and Mr. Williams. Mr. McJoy was absent.
The July 11, 2016 minutes and financial report were approved as presented.
The board opened bids for milk and bread. A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mr. Mosley to accept Hiland’s bid for milk and Flower’s bid for bread. The motion carried.
The board received a bid from Dixon Auto to purchase the three vehicles advertised for sale. The bid was as follows: 1993 Dodge Van $250.00, 1985 Econoline Van $250.00, and a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria for $200.00. A motion was made by Mr. Mosley and seconded by Ms. Griffin to accept Dixon Auto’s bid. The motion carried.
The City of Lake Village Police Department responded to an advertisement to bid on a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria (damaged engine, transmission and needs body repair) for $50.00. A motion was made by Mr. Mosley and seconded by Mr. Collins to accept the City of Lake Village Police Department’s bid. The motion carried.
The school board president presented a retirement plaque to Susie Harrison for 34 years of service to public education in Arkansas.
The superintendent announced two workshops for school board members, which will be held at Southeast Co-op on October 3rd and 11th in Monticello. Also, the superintendent gave an update on the Joyce L. Vaught Annual Breakfast (“ A Legacy to Remember”) which will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00a.m. in the middle school cafeteria and passed out basketball and football schedules for the 2016-2017 school year.
The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, discipline, or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.
A motion was made by Mrs. Green and seconded by Mr. Collins to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to hire Benjamin McCabe (TFA: High School Physical Science), Jordyn Williams (TFA, High School Social Studies), Andrew Jackson (Part-time PE Teacher, Football, Track Coach and bus driver – Eudora Elementary), Linda Gayfield (First Grade Teacher: Eudora), John McKenna (Part-Time Algebra 1 Teacher; Lakeside Middle and ALE), Linda Thomas (Part-time Librarian: Lakeside Middle and Eudora Elementary), Ronica Webb (High School Special Education Paraprofessional), Jerry Hardin (Custodian and Maintenance: Eudora Elementary) and Mary Gaston (Food Service Worker). The motion carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
