Regular Meeting

January 14, 2019

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Mosley and Mr. Williams. Mr. McJoy was absent.

The December 10, 2018 minutes, attendance and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent introduced Justin Mills, Executive Director of K-12 Culinary Connection Food Service Program. Chef Mills prepared a meal for the board and gave an overview of his services. A motion was made by Mrs. Green and seconded by Mr. Collins to accept K-12 Culinary Connection Proposal to contract with the district as a consultant for our child Nutrition Program for $40,000 for 2019-2020 School Year. However, the superintendent will not sign the contract until the Arkansas Department Education (Child Nutrition Unit) makes changes to the language in the contract which was based upon an audit done by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The motion carried.

The superintendent presented a resolution on behalf of the Governor of the State of Arkansas, the Arkansas State Board of Education and the Arkansas Department of Education recognizing and saluting the members of local board of education by proclaiming the month of January 2019 as Arkansas School Board Member Recognition month. Also, each board member received a certificate of Recognition by the superintendent (“In Appreciation of Your Valuable Service to the Children of Arkansas”). Furthermore, Mr. Tom Mosley received a master board plaque from the Arkansas School Board Association.

The superintendent discussed the following items: Leaking buildings, a leak underground at high school, fire suppression system for Eudora cafeteria, bid for repair of restrooms at Eudora Elementary and kitchen area, district warehouse, price to demo Eudora Jr. High building and remove asbestos and engine replacement needed for bus #25 with only 60,000 miles (trip bus).

The superintendent also discussed a $13,128.98 grant received from the Arkansas Game and Fish for Lakeside Middle School 3-8th grade fishing program, NSBA Conference, Legislative update and AAEA position on bills.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, discipline, promotion or resignation of personnel.

After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mr. Williams to hire Sandra Williams as the new Child Nutrition Director, Lewis Dotson an as needed worker at the bus shop and advertise for a full-time school bus mechanic. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mrs. Green to adopt a resolution to enter into an employment contract with Mrs. Wanda G. Adams as a 6th grade social studies teacher for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year. (See attached resolution). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
