Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

August 21, 2017

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. Members present were Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, and Mr. Williams. Mr. McJoy and Mr. Mosley were absent.

The July 10, 2017, minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent presented the board with a good standing plaque from ASBA. Also, the superintendent gave an update on the Mainline Clinic at Lakeside High School and Eudora Elementary, Gear Up Grant ($55,200) for Lakeside Middle and Lakeside High School, the 2018 school election, the new AAA classification (2018-2020) and an athletic schedule and student handbooks were given to each board member.

The superintendent requested to take bids on a 30 X 50 storage building to be placed behind the field house and used to store tractors, forklift and sports equipment.

The president requested that the board go into executive sessions for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline, or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Ms. Griffin to approve the hiring of Dorothy Johnson (as needed). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
