Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

August 13, 2018

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Mr. Collins, Mrs. Green, Mr. Livingston, and Mr. Williams. Ms. Griffin, Mr. McJoy and Mr. Mosley were absent.

The July 9, 2018 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent discussed the proposal submitted by All Seasons Roofing, Inc. to install a Firestone mechanically attached 60 mil TPO roof system over parts of the existing metal roof at the Lakeside Elementary School which will cover the area with major leaks for $65,387.00. The All Seasons Roofing System has been bidded out through TIP Taps (2092415). A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept All Season’s bid proposal. The motion carried.

The superintendent presented proposed band trips submitted by the Lakeside Band Director to attend Biloxi/Gulfport parade on January 21 and 22, 2019 and Grambling State University Homecoming Parade on November 3, 2018. The trips are not funded by the District. A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mrs. Green to allow the Lakeside Band to travel out of state to proposed parades on non-school dates. The motion carried.

The superintendent gave an update on ASBA and NSBA State and National meetings; Eudora Elementary Preschool Program; District enrollment, and special education student’s placement concerns.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline, or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.

A motion was made by Mr. Collins and seconded by Mrs. Green to approve the contracts of Tylene Dickie (Elementary 3rd grade TFA), Wanda Stewart (Elementary Kindergarten), Tenesha Banks (Middle School Social Studies 7th grade), Donya Bell (Bus Driver) and accept the resignation of Eula Mae Hall (Special Education Paraprofessional). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
