Lakeside Board of Education
Regular Meeting
April 13, 2020
Staff Development Room
5:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McJoy, Mr. Mosley, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Mrs. Green was absent.
The March 9, 2020 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.
The superintendent gave the board a list of potential candidates (Rev. David Green, LaPortia Stanton, Betty Pressley, and Erma Toney) who agreed to serve in Zone 7 to replace Mrs. Loddie Green who resigned due to health reasons. A motion was made by Ms. Griffin and seconded by Mr. McJoy to appoint Rev. David Green as school board member in zone 7 until the next primary election. Ms. Griffin, Mr. McJoy , Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williamson voted in favor of Rev. Green. Mr. Livingston and Mr. Mosley voted against. The motion passed by majority vote.
The board reorganized. Mr. Livingston remained President, Mr. McJoy elected vice-president and Ms. Griffin remained as school board secretary.
The superintendent discussed 2018-2019 School Year Legislative Audit report, school closure update, graduation, student meals and the high priority bonus given to certified teachers by the Arkansas Department of Education.
A motion was made by Ms. Griffin and seconded by Mr. Livingston to allow the district to use ESA funding to pay matching on certified staff high priority bonus for the 2019-2020 school year. (Approval has been granted by ADE). The motion carried.
The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Griffin to renew the contracts of all classified staff recommended (on the list) by Dr. Adams (Central Office Staff, bus drivers, maintenance workers, janitorial, cafeteria and as needed staff), Ms. Armour (Lakeside High School classified list), Mr. Gray (Lakeside Middle School certified list), Mrs. Stone (Lakeside Elementary School classified list) and Mr. Sims (Eudora Elementary Classified list). Also, extend the superintendent’s contract one additional year to an existing contract from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. The motion carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 P.M.
