Regular Meeting
April 11, 2022

5:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Mosley, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Rev. Green and Rev. McJoy were absent.
The March 14, 2022 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Thompson to allow the district to use ESA Funds to pay the matching on certified staff high priority bonus given by DESE for the 2021-2022 school year (Approval has been granted by DESE). The motion carried.
The board tabled Mizell Heating and Air bid ($1,795,000) on March 14, 2022 for additional information until April 11, 2022 meeting. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept the bid for $1,795,000 to replace the Lakeside Elementary and Middle School HVAC Systems with ESSER II and (ARP) ESSER III funds. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept Carrier Mid-South bid for all HVAC equipment in the weight rooms and dressing room at Lakeside High School gym for $16,942.00, field house for $11,217.00 and $13,058 to replace a HVAC unit in room 100 at Lakeside High School. Carrier Mid-South was the only vendor to submit a bid. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept SOPA, Inc. bid to replace Lakeside High School gym bleachers on the Westside for $114,650.00 (Tips Taps #20080101). The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept SOPA, Inc. bid to replace the Lakeside High School gym basketball goals (6) and wall pads for North and South ends of the gym court for $65,700.00 (Tips Taps #200204). The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to accept Rainey Electronics, Inc. bid to upgrade the Lakeside High School basketball scoreboard to a Fair-Play 1600 Series LED Scoreboard and NFHS rule 2-14, 35 seconds Shot Clock with all required components for $29,626.126 (Tips/Taps, contract # 1909021). The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to purchase 5 new 2024, 78 passenger school buses from the lowest bidder off the State contract bid list. Rush Truck bidded ($109,850.00), Central States Bus Sales ($136,450.00) and Midwest Bus Sales ($129,271.93). Rush Truck Sales received the bid as the lowest bidder for a total cost of $549,250.00 using ESSER III (ARP) funds. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Mosely to allow the Lakeside Band Department to take a trip to Geyser Fall Water Theme Park in Philadelphia, MS on Monday, May 30, 2022. The motion carried.
The superintendent discussed GEO Lights bid for football field lights, additional space for the cafeteria (new facility), new health insurance for staff, Ms. Sanders and Penn invitation to visit their classroom, SRO MOU and update of the 2022-2023 School Calendar.
The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.
A motion was made by Mr. Williams and seconded by Mrs. Thompson to renew the contracts of all classified staff recommended (on the list) by Dr. Adams (Central Office staff, bus drivers, maintenance workers, janitorial, cafeteria, as-needed and ESS); Ms. Armour (Lakeside High School classified list); Dr. Wright (Lakeside Middle Classified list); Ms. Stone (Lakeside Elementary School Classified List) and Mr. Sims (Eudora Elementary Classified List). The motion carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
