Child Find Awareness

Lakeside School District Participates in Child Find Awareness 2023-2024

Each local educational agency is responsible for ensuring that all children with disabilities from birth to twenty-one (21) years within its jurisdiction and in need of special education and related services are identified, located and evaluated, regardless of the severity of their disability,  including:

        1.  Children with disabilities attending private schools.

        2.  Highly mobile children with disabilities (such as migrant and homeless children); and

        3.  Children who are suspected of having a disability and need special education services even though they are advancing from grade to grade.

The Lakeside School District provides special education services for all school age children that meet the qualifications for these services.

If a parent suspects their school age child has a disability they may contact any of the individuals below.

For information regarding pre-school services for children, ages three to five, interested persons can contact Southeast Arkansas Early Childhood Coordinator, Michelle Hoyt.  The preschool program provides education evaluation, academic instruction, speech/language, and physical/occupational therapy.  The phone number is 870-367-6848.

For more information regarding services for children birth to three years of age, interested persons should call 1-800-643-8258 and ask for the early intervention department.
