The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Mr. Lane, Mr. Livingston, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Sykes, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams.
The February 10, 2025 minutes and financial report were approved as presented.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Thompson to adopt a resolution of the Lakeside School District’s Board of Directors to hold an Annual School Election to elect school board members and to vote on the school millage in according to the Arkansas State Constitution, Article 14 and by approving the Chicot County Election Commission to conduct the Annual School Election on May 13, 2025 in according to A.C.,A. 6-14-102 (See Attach Resolution). The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Smith to allow the Lakeside Robotics teams to participate in the 2025 U.S. Open Robotics Tournament (VEX IQ) in Council Bluffs, Iowa (March 30th to April 3rd , 2025). The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Sykes to allow the Lakeside Middle School Students to attend the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) basketball game in Fed Ex Forum in Memphis, TN on March 14, 2025. The motion carried.
The superintendent discussed Beating the ODDS: High-Growth Schools based on Atlas Examination, Serving Low-Income Communities; the Safety Grant; Attorney General Griffin (Warns Against Home Solicitation Scams) and COSSBA National Conference (Registration confirmation, also, motel and air flight confirmations). Also, the superintendent discussed A.C.A § 6-13-636 (Authority to make school personnel hiring and placement decisions and HB 1512 and SB 246 (The Arkansas Access ACT).
The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to renew the contracts of all teachers recommended (on the list) by Mr. Sims. The motion carried. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to renew the contracts of all teachers recommended (on the list) by Dr. Wright. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to renew the contracts of all teachers recommended (on the list) by Mr. Brady. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to renew the contracts of all teachers recommended (on the list) by Dr. Goins (who was absent). 6 voted in favor and Mr. Lane voted against. The motion carried by majority vote.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to renew the contract of Charles Brady as High School Principal. The motion carried.
A Motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Sykes to give Mr. Michael Whalen $1900 Stipend for Boys and Girls Soccer and Ms. LaQualia Chatman $1900 Stipend for assistant Jr. Girls Basketball Coach. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Smith to give Coach Green $2400.00 for coaching high school boys basketball. 6 voted in favor and Rev. Green abstained due to conflict of interest. The motion carried by majority vote.
A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Sykes to assign Lakeside Head Football coaching duties to Coach Darrius Green and Coach Darren Toney for 2025-2026 school year. 6 voted in favor and Rev. Green abstained due to conflict of interest. The motion carried by majority vote.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
