Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

June 8, 2020

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.


The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Mr. Livingston, Rev. McJoy, Mr. Mosley, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Ms. Griffin and Mr. Mosely were absent.

The May 11, 2020 minutes and financial report were approved as presented.

The superintendent discussed the district policies. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. McJoy to approve the District policies. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to adopt a Resolution for the Suspension of District Policy to align with Emergency COVID-19 Legislation and Statutory/Rule Waivers. The motion carried (see attached resolution).

The superintendent discussed Arkansas Ready for Learning (Planning for Re-engagements) model, ASBA New Board Member Institute (Virtual from 8:30 to 2:00), AAEA/ASBA Joint Leadership (Virtual via ZOOM from 8:30 to 11:45), Digital Learning, and the Summer Seamless Feeding Program.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. McJoy to renew the contract of K-12 Culinary Connection for 2020-21 School Year to manage the Lakeside School District’s K-12 food service program. The motion carried.

The superintendent requested that the board table United Turf and Track bid for the Lakeside High School track and football field.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve the contracts of all as needed summer workers (bus drivers, cafeteria staff, custodians, painters, etc.), new hires Carolyn Poindexter (Eudora Elementary), and LaNeice Edwards (LEA Special Education Supervisor) and accept the resignation of Arthur Gray (Lakeside Middle School Principal), Teressa Stinson (LEA Special Supervisor), Melissa Adams (4th Grade Teacher) and Elfina Neal (High School Special Education Teacher). Also, approve all addendums to existing contracts for the 2019-20 school year. The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
