Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

February 10, 2020

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McJoy , Mr. Mosley, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Mrs. Green was absent.

The January 21, 2020 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent discussed the band trip to Atlanta, Georgia, showed the video prepared by the EAST students promoting the millage, provided an update on Census 2020, Delta Trade School Project, Weapon and Dangerous Instrument Policy (4.22) NSBA Conference (4/3 to 4/6), school board members hours, and the superintendent gave Mr. McJoy and Mr. Mosely a certificate of recognition for their valuable service to the children of Arkansas. Also, a report was given on the Lakeside Robotic Team and the superintendent requested to take bids on three new school buses, generators for all walk-in coolers and freezers at all sites and he discussed the school audit visit.

The superintendent requested to do a poll vote of all school board members based on the proposed school calendar after all certified teachers vote on the proposed calendar #1 or #2. The board was polled on February 18, 2020 which 77% of the certified teachers voted for calendar #1 and 23% for Calendar #2. All board members voted in favor of Calendar #1 for the 2020-2021 School Year.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Griffin to hire Bequette Billingsley and Kees Law Firm to represent the board and the Lakeside School District with legal matters. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Ms. Griffin and seconded by Mr. McJoy to open Pre-K in Eudora Elementary School for 2020-21 School Year. The motion carried.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Ms. Griffin and seconded by Mr. McJoy to approve the renewal of contracts for Linda Armour (High School Principal), Arthur Gray (As Needed), Cristy Stone (Elementary Principal), Ross Sims (Eudora Principal/Technology Coordinator), Audrey Brown (Federal Coordinator), Lori Cingolani (Math, Science School Improvement Specialist/Data Analyst), Teressa Stinson (Special Education Supervisor/504 Coordinator), and Joyce Vaught (Administrative Assistant); New Hire: Elmira Rodriquez (High School Social Studies Teacher), and Jacqueline Anderson (Pre-K Elementary Teacher) for the remainder of the school year, Connie Bowman (Elementary ALE – as needed), Edward Mason (hourly as needed) and accept the resignation of Joy Long (Middle School Teacher) and Julie Gardner (Elementary Pre-K Teacher). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
