Regular Meeting
August 14, 2023
Administration Building Cafeteria
5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Mr. Lane, Mr. Livingston, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Sykes, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams.

The July 10, 2023 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

Mrs. Jennifer Armstrong and Jeremy Wade discussed Jeremy’s experience and the process he was chosen as an intern for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The superintendent discussed the LEARNS Literacy Coaches which are assigned to Lakeside Elementary School. Also, a plan for improving instruction was outlined with districtwide professional development to meet the needs of all students.

The superintendent gave an update on the contract approval request for Mr. Livingston, estimate for 12 portable handheld digital radios; PLC Districtwide, ASBA’s Fall Leadership Institute, School Bus routes, HVAC for Lakeside Elementary and Middle School.

The president requested that the board to into executive session for the purpose of employment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. After the discussion, the public was allowed to return. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mrs. Smith to approve the contracts for Devanon Fitzgerald (High School Band Director), Sheila Sutton (Elementary 4 th grade Teacher), Synthia Freeman (High School Cafeteria), Octavia Moore (High School Secretary), Brenda Taylor(Elementary Custodian/cafeteria), David Baldwin (High School EAST and Algebra II), Anglenett Mason (Middle School Special Education) and Enda Brown rescind from part-time to full-time (Eudora third grade teacher).

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:52 P.M.
