Lakeside Board of Education

Regular Meeting

March 14, 2022

Staff Development Room

5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Rev. Green, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Livingston, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Rev. McJoy and Mr. Mosley were absent.

The February 14, 2022 minutes and financial reports were approved as presented.

The superintendent presented the 2022-2023 Proposed School Calendar (#2) which was approved by certified teachers. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve proposed school Calendar (#2). The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed the bid opening tabulation conducted on February 17, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. by Claylan Vaden with Lewis, Elliott, McMorran, Vaden, Ragsdale and Woodward, Inc. to replace HVAC units at the Lakeside Elementary and Middle schools to improve the air quality with MEV13 filters. Mizell heating and Air, Inc. bidded $1,795,000 and Solution Mechanical (Arkadelphia, AR) bidded $2,061.837.00. The board agreed to table the bids until the next meeting to get additional information.

Mrs. Jennifer Armstrong, Stem Director, gave an update on the Arkansas State VEX IQ Championships. All teams qualified for Worlds Robotics Conference in Dallas, Texas (May 5 to 11). A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to allow the Lakeside Robotics Team to participate in the Worlds Robotics Tournament in Dallas, TX. The motion carried.

The Board agreed to continue to require students and staff to wear mask for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year.

The president requested that the board go into executive session for the purpose of employment, appointment, promotion, discipline or resignation of personnel. A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Rev. Green to renew the contracts of all teachers recommended (on the list) by Mr. Sims, Ms. Stone, Dr. Wright and Ms. Armour. Also, renew the contract of LaNeice Edwards (LEA Supervisor). The motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
