Regular Meeting

September 14, 2020

The meeting was called to order by the president. The following members were present: Ms. Griffin, Rev. Green, Mr. Livingston, Rev. McJoy, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Williams. Mr. Mosely was absent.

The superintendent requested that the board review and approve the annual school budget for the 2020-21 school year, special education budget; ACSIP (ESEA) Assurances, (Title I, Title II, Title IV, Title V and McKinney Veto); Equity and Minority Recruitment Plan; a spreadsheet showing all employees with an increase in pay of 5% or more from fiscal year 2018-19 to fiscal year 2019-20, increase the cost of breakfast from $2.20 to $2.30 and lunch from $3.75 to $3.85 and accept Hiland bid for milk and Flower’s bid for bread. A motion was made by Ms. Griffin and seconded by Mr. Williams to approve the budgets for 2020-21 School Year, ESEA Assurances, Equity and Minority Recruitment Plan, 5% or more increase in employee’s salaries, increase the cost of breakfast to $2.30 and lunch to $3.85 and accept Hiland’s bid for milk and Flower’s bid for bread. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Griffin to approve policies 3.32.1 and 8.23.1 Licensed Personnel and Classified Personnel COVID Emergency Leave. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Livingston and seconded by Ms. Griffin to approve Naff Construction bid to remodel the Lakeside High School Football Field Press Box for $19,769.74 and remodel two restrooms with new flooring, new ceiling and new toilet partitions for $14,898.00 at the Lakeside Administration Building. The motion carried.

The superintendent discussed DESE extended timeline for dropping students (September 30, 2020) Homecoming Guidance, Football and Track Field report, John Deere Gator donated by the Bank of Lake Village, SEARCF donated $2600 to the Art Department, APA Survey for State School Finance study, damage to the bus garage door, ASBA training and hotspots provided by the DESE.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M. The board attended Virtual Board Training from 5:30 to 8:30 offered by ASBA.
